Frantzén (Old)

So this is one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. Don´t know here to start, but let’s start from the beginning. When you arrive to this restaurant you feel welcome when you are meet by the doorman. Then we get seated at our table and the journey begin and it is a very long and tasty journey. I would be too long to go thru everything that makes this place great so I will talk about some highlight from my visit.

In the middle of the table there is a sourdough under a glass dome that has been preparing for a long time. Between 2 dishes they come and get the dough to take it out to the kitchen to start prepare the bread. After a while freshly baked bread comes out but that is not all, they start to churn butter at your table for you freshly baked bread.

Then we come one of my favorite dish that we got served this evening and it is a Truffle toast. A fried brioche topped with cheese, 100 years balsamic vinegar and the best part is that it is topped with a mountain of black truffle.
And then we have a salad dish that is made up with a crazy amount of different ingredients that it is impossible to remember it all. But the amazing thing is how well it all works together. And while you are eating it´s hard to think how many different things it´s made from.

But beside the food you get a great wine pairing that works great with the food. But going to Frantzén is more than going to dinner. It is more like a dinner and show because you get all the information and back story about every dish and everything you drink.

So from the start to the end I had a great evening with some friends and we were there for about 4 hours and ate during the whole time. It cost a lot to go there but after you been there you understand why it´s.

Update 2017-06-28:
The restaurant is closed but you don´t have to worry. It opens again at a new place in Stockholm. And I am already looking forward to try it out.
