I was invited to Scandinavian Detours that is a event by the whisky brand Talisker together with the restaurant Brygghuset. During this event we got to see and experience what they will offer for the public during this summer.
This experience has it base at the restaurant Brygghuset but have focus on the local fishing life. We started of by checking in at hotel Slipens hotell that is just next door to the restaurant. After that it was time to get on a fishing boat that took us out to a small island called Flatholmen where we were served lunch by Jonas who is a chef at the restaurant Brygghuset. We got served a delicious fish soup but before we had the soap a local fisherman arrived at the island and he served us local Swedish oyster that he had just harvested. Together with the oyster we had some Talisker whisky and then we enjoyed the fish soup.
After a while we moved on from the island that we had our lunch and got back on the fishing boat to do some fishing and we got a lot of crabs and some langoustine before we headed back to the restaurant.
When we got back we had a quick break where everyone could get back to there rooms before it was time for the whisky tasting. It was good tasting where they when true a lot of the basic things when it comes to whisky, so I think it will suite everyone because they also talked about somethings that are not so basic to.
After the whisky tasting it was time for us to start the dinner and we were served a delicious four-course meal and besides that the food was great the fun thing during this meal was that instead of the basic wine or beer for dinner they had a cocktail paring for the different dishes. And the man behind it all was Emil Hed who competed in the bartender competition World Class. This cocktail pairing with the food was something new and interesting for me. And all the cocktails had Talisker whisky in them.
After dinner we had some time to try out the sauna and Jacuzzi. It was a magical evening with a lot of interesting and nice people. After the sauna it was time to go to bed and the next morning we had a great breakfast at the restaurant before it was time to get back home.
