Wine and Pizza with Ruffino

This week I was invited to wine & pizza by Elina from Gastro PR. It took place at Capri Due, and there we got to try out some Ruffino wines paired together with pizzas made by Giovanni Santarpia who really knows pizza.

It was a perfect day and we started off with some Ruffino Prosecco Treviso before we started with the pizza.

After that we went in to this cozy and nice restaurant where they have a wood fire for the pizzas. We started of with the classic pizza Margherita (Tomato, mozzarella, basil, Parmigiano) and together with that we had the 2018 Ruffino Pinot Grigio delle Venezie organic.

The second pizza we tried out was a Vegetariana (white pizza with fresh tomatoes, caponata, eggplants, peppers, capers, taggiasco olives, raisins and pine nuts) and together with 2018 Ruffino Chianti Organic.

The third pizza was a Marinara Rivista ( Capers, Taggiasca Olives, yellow small tomatoes, anchovies, garlic and oregano) and to that we had 2015 Ruggino Riserva Ducale.

The fourth pizza was Zucca & Pancetta ( Yellow pumpkin cream with pancetta, mozzarella, parmigiano ) and it was served together with 2016 Ruffino Modus.

The last pizza was Pizza Scandinavia ( Smoked buffalo, mashed potato and salmon ) together with 2010 Ruffino Riserva Ducale Oro.

I had a great time and the best pizza for me was the Margherita it was delicious, and Giovanni Santarpia really knows his pizzas. I also liked the Prosecco that we got served before we started eating. For our second pizza we had the Ruffino Chianti Organic and it is a new wine that will be released around June 16 in Sweden and it was a good paring together with that pizza.

During the pizza’s spokespersons from Ruffino talked about how they are working more and more to produce organic wines and by 2021 over 40% of their vineyard will be organic.
