Akvavit

Åhus Akvavit Botanisk Special

They have been making Akvavit in the distillery in Åhus for many years but this one is new called Åhus Akvavit Botanisk Special. There are some rules to making a Swedish Akvavit and they are following the rules on this one, but besides cumin and fennel that you must have they use lemon, Pomeranian, quince and Lady´s mantle (Alchemilla vulgaris). In the process of making this it has also been stored in bourbon casks and casks of Swedish oak for seven years.

Since this is a very exclusive and limited edition the bottles have hand drawn illustrations of Lady´s mantle on them and the box is made from leather.

The interesting thing about this one is besides the normal tastes you get from Akvavit which is cumin and fennel you also get small hints of the Lady´s mantle and after a while you get some fruity flavors coming forward. It is not strong and that makes it easy and pleasant to drink.

And if you want to get hold of this you have to act fast since they only made 300 bottles.
